Distribution

Atlantic slopes of Oaxaca and Chiapas in southern Mexico, 1500 to 2100 m elevation.

Placed in the Hyla pinorum group and elevated from subspecies status under Hyla melanomma by Campbell and Duellman, 2000, Sci. Pap. Nat. Hist. Mus. Univ.
