Comment

In the Hyla eximia group of Faivovich, Haddad, Garcia, Frost, Campbell, and Wheeler, 2005, Bull. Am. Mus. Nat. Hist., 294: 102; this confirmed by  Li, Wang, Nian, Litvinchuk, Wang, Li, Rao, and Klaus, 2015, Mol. Phylogenet. Evol., 87: 80–90, who also provided evidence for cryptic species within this complex. For discussion see Duellman, 1970, Monogr. Mus. Nat. Hist. Univ. Kansas: 499-505 (in the sense of including Hyla wrightorum), and Duellman, 2001, Hylid Frogs Middle Am., Ed. 2: 985-987. See comments under Hyla wrightorum. Painter, 1986, Herpetol. Rev., 17: 26, provided the first record for Colima. Uribe-Peña, Ramírez-Bautista, and Casas-Andreu, 1999, Cuad. Inst. Biol., UNAM, 32: 29-32, provided an account. Eliosa León, 2002, Bol. Soc. Herpetol. Mexicana, 10: 59-60, reported on geographic variation; see comments under Hyla arboricola and Hyla wrightorum. Reyes-Velasco, Hermosillo-López, Grünwald, and Avila-López, 2009, Herpetol. Rev., 40: 117-120, provided a record for Colima, Mexico. Korky and Webb, 1991, Bull. New Jersey Acad. Sci., 36: 7-12, compared the larval morphology of Hyla eximia, Hyla euphorbiacea, and Hyla plicataLemos-Espinal and Dixon, 2013, Amphibians and Reptiles of San Luis Potosí: 53-54, provided an account for San Luis Potosí, Mexico. Valdes-Lares, Martín-Muñoz de Cote, and Muñiz-Martínez, 2013, Herpetol. Rev., 44: 648, provided new records for Durango, Mexico, and discussed the overlap in that state with Hyla wrightorum.  Lemos-Espinal and Smith, 2015, Check List, 11(1642): 1–11, noted the occurrence of the species in Hidalgo, Mexico, without providing a specific locality.
