Dendropsophus frosti Motta, Castroviejo-Fisher, Venegas, Orrico, and Padial, 2012, Zootaxa, 3249: 22. Holotype: ANDES-A1025, by original designation. Type locality: "Km 11 on the road from Leticia to Tarapacá (04° 06′ 24.2″ S, 69° 56′ 57.4″ W; 103 m.a.s.l.), Departamento Amazonas, Colombia".

Known from three localities: the type locality near Leticia, Amazonas, Colombia, in Amazonanian Peru at Piedreas (between Nueva Vida and San Pablo de Totolla, Provincia de Maynas, Loreto), and from Tabatinga municipality, Amazonas state, Brazil.

Koch, Mônico, Fernandes, and Valteran, 2023, Herpetol. Brasil., 11: 106–111, reported the species from Tabatinga municipality, Amazonas state, Brazil.
