Syntypes: Not stated; AL-MNRJ 90-91 and USNM 96194 according to Duellman, 1977, Das Tierreich, 95: 51, and (likely) USNM 96150 according to Cochran, 1961, Bull. U.S. Natl. Mus., 220: 53 (not mentioned by Duellman in his subsequent catalog). Type locality: "près de Rio [de Janeiro]", Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Pugliese, Alves, and Carvalho-e-Silva, 2000, Alytes, 18: 73-80, doubted its assignment to this group. Izecksohn and Carvalho-e-Silva, 2001, Anf.
