Hyla lemai Rivero, 1972 "1971", Caribb. J. Sci., 11: 183. Holotype: UPRM 3179, by original designation. Type locality: "Paso del Danto, La Escalera, entre El Dorado y Sta. Elena de Uairen, Serranía de Lema, 1300-1400 m.", Estado Bolívar, Venezuela.

La Escalera region (Bolívar, Venezuela) and Mount Roraima and Mount Ayanganna in Guyana.

In the Hypsiboas benitezi group of Faivovich, Haddad, Garcia, Frost, Campbell, and Wheeler, 2005, Bull. Am. Mus. Nat. Hist., 294: 86-87. M. S. Hoogmoed IN Frost, 1985, Amph. Species World: 139, reported the species for Mount Roraima, Guyana, and MacCulloch and Lathrop, 2005, Phyllomedusa, 4: 25, reported the species for Mount Ayanganna, Guyana. Myers and Donnelly, 2008, Bull. Am. Mus. Nat. Hist., 308: 52-53, discussed a specimen from Auyantepui, Venezuela. MacCulloch and Lathrop, 2009, R. Ontario Mus. Contrib.
