Comment

See Lutz, 1973, Brazil. Spec. Hyla: 120. Formerly considered by some authors (i.e., Miranda-Ribeiro, 1926, Arq. Mus. Nac., Rio de Janeiro, 27: 207 [but see page 85], and Barrio, 1962, Physis, Buenos Aires, 23: 134) to be a synonym of Hyla pulchella. Records of Hyla guentheri from Argentina are based on specimens of Hyla pulchella according to Langone, 1997, Cuad. Herpetol., 11: 13-20, who redescribed the holotype and discussed the confusion in application of this name. In the Hyla pulchella group of Faivovich, Garcia, Ananias, Lanari, Basso, and Wheeler, 2004, Mol. Phylogenet. Evol., 32: 945. In the Hypsiboas pulchellus group of Faivovich, Haddad, Garcia, Frost, Campbell, and Wheeler, 2005, Bull. Am. Mus. Nat. Hist., 294: 87-88. Almeida-Silva, Mollo, Mendes, and Verdade, 2016, Zootaxa, 4179: 139–143, reported on larval morphology. Forti, Haddad, Leite, Drummond, Assis, Crivellari, Mello, Garcia, Zornosa-Torres, and Toledo, 2019, PeerJ, 7(e7612): 1–39, reported on advertisement call.
