Hypsiboas curupi Garcia, Faivovich, and Haddad, 2007, Copeia, 2007: 941. Holotype: MACN 34949, by original designation. Type locality: "Argentina, Misiones, Departamento Guarany, San Vicente, km 1272, Ruta Nacional 14, Campo Anexo INTA ‘‘Cuartel Rio Victoria’’, 26°55′03″S, 54°25′50″W".

Distribution

Atlantic forest of Misiones, northeastern Argentina, 300-700 m elevation and adjacent southeastern Paraguay (Caazapá, Guairá, and Itapúa provinces); reported also in western Santa Catarina as well as extreme northern and northeastern Rio Grando do Sul, Brazil, and expected to occur in Paraná, Brazil.

In the Hypsiboas pulchellus group and confused with Hypsiboas semiguttatus prior to its delimitation according to the original publication. Brusquetti and Lavilla, 2008, Check List, 4: 145, provided records for southeastern Paraguay, that Brusquetti and Lavilla, 2006, Cuad. Herpetol., 20: 10, previously noted prior to the naming of this species as "Hypsiboas aff. semiguttatus". Iop, Caldart, Rocha, Paim, and Cechin, 2009, Check List, 5: 860-862, provided a record for northern Rio Grande do Sul and discussed the range. Lucas and Garcia, 2011, Check List, 7: 13-16, provided a record in western Santa Catarina, Brazil, and discussed the range. Zanella, Machado, and Busin, 2012, Herpetol. Rev., 43: 440, provided a record for Rio Grande do Sul, as did Fontana, Sangalli, and Zanella, 2017, Check List, 3(1: 2044): 1–4. Weiler, Núñez, Airaldi, Lavilla, Peris, and Baldo, 2013, Anf.
