Central (Goiás) to northeastern (Paraíba) and eastern (Rio de Janeiro), Brazil. 


Much of the literature formally referencing this species now applies to Hypsiboas xerophylla, following the revision of Orrico, Nunes, Mattedi, Fouquet, Lemos, Rivera-Correa, Lyra, Loebmann, Pimenta, Caramaschi, Rodrigues, and Haddad, 2017, Salamandra, 53: 99–113. Röhr and Juncá, 2013, J. Herpetol., 47: 549–554, reported on the advertisement call structure.
