Gastrotheca aguaruna Duellman, Barley, and Venegas, 2014, Zootaxa, 3768: 164. Holotype: KU 212022, by original designation. Type locality: "Molinapampa, 6° 10′ 50″ S, 77° 37′ 1″ W, 2400 m, Provincia Chachapoyas, Departamento Amazonas, Peru".

Elevations of 2360–3308 m in the northern part of the Cordillera Central in Amazonas, Peru.
