Izecksohn and Carvalho-e-Silva, 2001, Anf. Municipio Rio de Janeiro: 36, provided a brief account and photo. Records from the state of Espirito Santo have been referred to Fritziana tonimi. Haas, 1996, J. Zool. Syst. Evol. Res., 34: 163–171, described the development and anatomy of the larva with respect to other hemiphractine frogs.
