Comment

In the Limnonectes (Limnonectes) kuhlii group of Dubois, 1987 "1986", Alytes, 5: 63, who removed it from the synonymy of Rana kuhlii, where it had been placed by Boulenger, 1920, Rec. Indian Mus., 20: 62. See Stejneger, 1907, Bull. U.S. Natl. Mus., 58: 136-139; Inger, 1947, Fieldiana, Zool., 32: 329; and Okada, 1966, Fauna Japon., Anura: 126-130, for accounts. Maeda and Matsui, 1990, Frogs Toads Japan, Ed. 2: 112-115, provided an account. Goris and Maeda, 2004, Guide Amph. Rept. Japan: 74-76, provided an account (as Rana namiyei), map, and photograph. See map, description of geographic range and habitat, and conservation status in Stuart, Hoffmann, Chanson, Cox, Berridge, Ramani, and Young, 2008, Threatened Amph. World: 483. Suwannapoom, Yuan, Chen, Hou, Zhao, Wang, Nguyen, Murphy, Sullivan, McLeod, and Che, 2016, Zootaxa, 4093: 181–200, suggested on the basis of molecular data that this species is the sister taxon of Limnonectes fujianensis of China.
