Comment

Status elevated from subspecies under Limnonectes macrognathus by Dubois, 1987 "1986", Alytes, 5: 62; without discussion. Orlov, Murphy, Ananjeva, Ryabov, and Ho, 2002, Russ. J. Herpetol., 9: 87, commented on the range. Stuart, Sok, and Neang, 2006, Raffles Bull. Zool., 54: 137-138, provided a record and account for Cambodia. Account provided (as Rana toumanoffi) by Bourret, 1942, Batr. Indochine: 272-274. See Ohler and Dubois, 1999, Zool. Scripta, 23: 276, for reference to Vietnam record (as Limnonectes toumanoffi). Orlov, Murphy, Ananjeva, Ryabov, and Ho, 2002, Russ. J. Herpetol., 9: 87, commented on the range of nominal Limnonectes toumanoffi. Nguyen, Ho, and Nguyen, 2005, Checklist Amph. Rept. Vietnam: 23, provided specific localities for Vietnam for Limnonectes toumanoffi. See map, description of geographic range and habitat, and conservation status (as Limnonectes toumanoffi) in Stuart, Hoffmann, Chanson, Cox, Berridge, Ramani, and Young, 2008, Threatened Amph. World: 484. Lambertz, Hartmann, Walsh, Geissler, and McLeod, 2014, Zool. J. Linn. Soc., 172: 117–132, compared the head ornamentation of Limnonectes abanus, Limnonectes gyldenstolpei, Limnonectes macrognathus, and Limnonectes plicatellus and suggested that the name Elachoglossa be restricted to this clade. See account, photograph, and map for Vietnam in Vassilieva, Galoyan, Poyarkov, and Geissler, 2016, Photograph. Field Guide Amph. Rept. Lowland S. Vietnam: 90–92.
