See photograph, map, description of geographic range and habitat, and conservation status in Stuart, Hoffmann, Chanson, Cox, Berridge, Ramani, and Young, 2008, Threatened Amph. World: 478, who reported a personal communication from Sushi Dutta that an unnamed species in Karnataka and Maharashtra, South India, may be a close relative. Sri Lankan population (as Rana limnocharis) discussed by Kirtisinghe, 1957, Amph. Ceylon: 38-40 and Dutta and Manamendra-Arachchi, 1996, Amph. Fauna Sri Lanka: 80-83. Dutta, 1997, Amph.
