Known only from the region of the type locality on the western slope of the Central Andes, Antioquia, Colombia, ca. 1240 m elevation.

Comment

Grant and Ardila-Robayo, 2002, Herpetologica, 58: 259, confirmed the distinctiveness of this species from Hyloxalus lehmanni.
