Comment

Prior to the revision of Grant, Frost, Caldwell, Gagliardo, Haddad, Kok, Means, Noonan, Schargel, and Wheeler, 2006, Bull. Am. Mus. Nat. Hist., 299, in the Colostethus fuliginosus group (Group VI) of Rivero, 1990 "1988", Mem. Soc. Cienc. Nat. La Salle, 48: 3–32. Lynch and Renjifo, 2001, Guia Anf. Rept. Bogota: 43, presented a brief account and photograph. Bernal, Guarnizo, and Lüddecke: 395–408, reported on geographic variation in advertisement call. Lynch, 2006, Caldasia, 28: 139, characterized the range in Colombia. Sánchez, 2013, Zootaxa, 3637: 569–591, provided information on larval morphology. Muñoz-Ortiz, Velásquez-Álvarez, Guarnizo, and Crawford, 2015, J. Biogeograph., 42: 193–205.  Guarnizo, Paz, Muñoz-Ortiz, Flechas-Hernández, Méndez-Narváez, and Crawford, 2016, PLoS One, 10(5: e0127312): 1–20, suggested on the basis of molecular evidence that three species likely exist in Colombia under this binomial.Grant, Rada, Anganoy-Criollo, Batista, Dias, Jeckel, Machado, and Rueda-Almonacid, 2017, S. Am. J. Herpetol., 12 (Special Issue): 35, provided a tree which places Rheobates pseudopalmata within multiple lineages of nominal Rheobates palmatus, suggesting that the latter is a species complex. Jerez and Yara-Contreras, 2018, Catal. Anf. Rept. Colombia, Medellín, 4(1): 68–78, provided a detailed account. Ovalle-Pacheco, Camacho-Rozo, and Arroyo, 2019, Check List, 15: 390, extended the elevational range. Genty, Guarnizo, Ramírez, Barrientos, and Crawford, 2022, J. Zool. Syst. Evol. Res., 2022 (6774225): 1–20, discussed cryptic species under this name.
