Distribution

Known only from the type locality (Villavicencio, Meta, Colombia) in a botanical garden in an otherwise urban landscape on the lower slopes of the eastern side of the Cordillera Oriental.

Lynch, 2006, Caldasia, 28: 139, noted that Cochran and Goin, 1970, Bull. U.S. Natl. Mus., 288: 48, provided an account of this species under the name Colostethus brunneus.
