Comment

See distributional comment by Gorzula and Señaris, 1999 "1998", Scient. Guaianae, 8: 21. In the Centrolene gorzulae group of Duellman and Señaris, 2003, Herpetologica, 59: 251. See comment under Centrolene papillahallicum. Señaris and Ayarzagüena, 2005, Rev. Taxonom. Fam. Centrolenidae de Venezuela: 79–85, provided a review of the morphology, natural history, and range of this species (as Centrolene gorzulai and Centrolene lema). Brandon-Jones, Duckworth, Jenkins, Rylands, and Sarmiento, 2007, Zootaxa, 1541: 41–48, provided a discussion for why gorzulae is not emendable to gorzulai. See account by Kok and Castroviejo-Fisher, 2008, Zootaxa, 1680: 34–39 (as Centrolene gorzulai), who provided the records from Guyana. Myers and Donnelly, 2008, Bull. Am. Mus. Nat. Hist., 308: 29-30, provided an account. Cisneros-Heredia and McDiarmid, 2007, Zootaxa, 1572: 41, suggested that Centrolene papillahallicum is conspecific with Centrolene gorzulae, but witheld a formal taxonomic change pending ongoing research by others on this topic; Kok and Castroviejo-Fisher, 2008, Zootaxa, 1680: 25–53, subsequently made the synonymy. Castroviejo-Fisher, Guayasamin, and Kok, 2009, Zootaxa, 1980: 16-28, provided new data on distribution and ecology. Kok and Kalamandeen, 2008, Intr. Taxon. Amph. Kaieteur Natl. Park: 134–135, provided an account. See Cole, Townsend, Reynolds, MacCulloch, and Lathrop, 2013, Proc. Biol. Soc. Washington, 125: 384, for brief account and records for Guyana. Señaris, Lampo, Rojas-Runjaic, and Barrio-Amorós, 2014, Guía Ilust. Anf. Parque Nac. Canaima: 83–84, provided a photograph and a brief account for the Parque Nacional de Canaima, Venezuela. See Barrio-Amorós, Rojas-Runjaic, and Señaris, 2019, Amph. Rept. Conserv., 13 (1: e180): 22–23, for comments on range, taxonomy, and literature. Señaris and Rojas-Runjaic, 2020, in Rull and Carnaval (eds.), Neotrop. Divers. Patterns Process.: 571–632, commented on range and conservation status in the Venezuelan Guayana.
