Comment
See photograph, map, description of geographic range and habitat, and conservation status (as Bufo tacanensis) in Stuart, Hoffmann, Chanson, Cox, Berridge, Ramani, and Young, 2008, Threatened Amph. World: 192. Mendelson, Mulcahy, Williams, and Sites, 2011, Zootaxa, 3138: 1-34, suggested that Incilius tacanensis is a members in an unnamed monophyletic group (the name Incilius alvarius group is availabe-DRF) that includes Incilius alvarius, Incilius occidentalis, Incilius mccoyi, and Incilius tacanensis. Oliver-López, Woolrich-Piña, and Lemos-Espinal, 2009, Fam. Bufonidae Mex.: 93–94, provided an account for Mexico (as Ollotis cristata). Köhler, 2011, Amph. Cent. Am.: 104–115, compared this species to others in Central America and provided a range map and photograph.
