Atelopus angelito Ardila-Robayo and Ruiz-Carranza, 1998, Rev. Acad. Colomb. Cienc. Exact. Fis. Nat., 22: 281. Holotype: ICN 33408, by original designation. Type locality: "COLOMBIA, Departamento del Cauca, Municipio de San Sebastián, Inspección de policía Valencia, ca. Km. 5-6 por camino de herradura de Valencia a Quinchana, ca. 1° 51′ latitud N, 76° 47′ longitud W de Greenwich, 2900 m-3000m".

Distribution

Known only from the type locality (near Valencia, Municipality of San Sebastián, Cauca, Colombia, 2900–3000 m elevation, on the eastern slope of the Cordillera Central; also reported 183 km to the southwest at Río La Plata, Comunidad de Morán, Provincia Carchi, northern Ecuador.

Coloma, Duellman, Almendáriz C., Ron, Terán-Valdez, and Guayasamin, 2010, Zootaxa, 2574: 1–54, discussed the Ecuador record and noted that the population may be extinct.
