Distribution

Patchily distributed on Hispaniola (Haiti and Dominican Republic), 0–900 m, elevation.

Comment

In the Eleutherodactylus inoptatus group, according to Schwartz, 1965, Bull. Mus. Comp. Zool., 132: 479-508, who recognized four subspecies, now considered species (including Eleutherodactylus aporostegus, Eleutherodactylus bothroboans, Eleutherodactylus ruthae tychaethrous. Powell, 1993, Herpetol. Rev., 24: 135–137, suggested that Eleutherodactylus ruthae aporostegus and Eleutherodactylus ruthae tychaethrous warranted binominal status.
