Is., 22: 101–114, one of which was treated as a species (Eleutherodactylus probolaeus) by Schwartz and Thomas, 1975, Spec. Publ. Carnegie Mus. Nat. Hist., 1: 33. Eleutherodactylus pictissimus apantheatus and Eleutherodactylus pictissimus eremus were treated as distinct species by Lynch and Duellman, 1997, Univ. Kansas Mus. Nat. Hist. Spec. Publ., 23: 220; without discussion. See account by Schwartz, 1976, Bull. Florida State Mus., Biol. Sci., 21: 3–0. Placed in the Eleutherodactylus (Euhyas) pictissimus series, Eleutherodactylus pictissimus group by Hedges, 1989, in Woods (ed.), Biogeograph. W. Indies: 324. See Eleutherodactylus apantheatus and Eleutherodactylus eremus. In the Eleutherodactylus (Euhyas) ricordii group according to Lynch and Duellman, 1997, Univ. Kansas Mus. Nat. Hist. Spec.
