Hylodes auriculatus Cope, 1862, Proc. Acad. Nat. Sci. Philadelphia, 14: 152. Syntypes: by original designation, "Mus. Smithsonian, (No. 5207.) Philadelphia Academy [now lost?].", presumably lost as not noted in recent USNM or ANSP type lists. Type locality: "Eastern Cuba".
