Comment

In the Phrynopus flavomaculatus group according to the original publication. The species name is a noun in apposition, according to the original publication. Lehr, 2005, Herpetologica, 61: 204, noted that this taxon is actually a member of the Eleutherodactylus (Eleutherodactylus) nigrovittatus group. Heinicke, Duellman, and Hedges, 2007, Proc. Natl. Acad. Sci. USA, 104: 10092-10097, removed this species from nominal Eleutherodactylus but did not provide a new generic name; see comment under Hypodactylus. See photograph, map, description of geographic range and habitat, and conservation status (as Phrynopus lucida) in Stuart, Hoffmann, Chanson, Cox, Berridge, Ramani, and Young, 2008, Threatened Amph. World: 406. See Duellman and Lehr, 2009, Terrest.-breeding Frogs in Peru: 83-84, for account.
