Caramaschi and Pombal, 2006, Rev. Brasil. Zool., 23: 1261-1263, discussed the type series. See photograph, map, description of geographic range and habitat, and conservation status in Stuart, Hoffmann, Chanson, Cox, Berridge, Ramani, and Young, 2008, Threatened Amph. World: 400. Martinelli and Toledo, 2016, Zootaxa, 4184: 383–385, suggested that this species is extinct and discussed the distress call.
