Pristimantis bicantus Guayasamin and Funk, 2009, Zootaxa, 2220: 49. Holotype: QCAZ 19024, by original designation. Type locality: "Yanayacu Biological Station, trail to San Isidro Lakes (0° 36′ S, 77° 53′ W; 2150 m), Provincia Napo, Ecuador".

Distribution

On the eastern slopes of the Andes in Ecuador, in the northern from the Yanayacu Biological Station, 2100–2300 m elevation, Napo Province, south to the province of Morona-Santiago, 2100 to 2300 elevation.

Comment

In the Pristimantis myersi group according to the original publication, and of Padial, Grant, and Frost, 2014, Zootaxa, 3825: 126. Reyes-Puig, Reyes-Puig, and Yánez-Muñoz, 2013, Avanc. Cienc. Ingen., Quito, Secc. B,, 5(2): B5-B13, discussed the altitudinal range. Brito-M., Batallas-Revelo, and Yánez-Muñoz, 2017, Neotropical Biodiversity, 3: 125–156, reported this species from Morona-Santiago, Ecuador, and provided natural history notes. Excluded from the Pristimantis myersi group by Franco-Mena, Guayasamin, Andrade-Brito, Yánez-Muñoz, and Rojas-Runjaic, 2023, PeerJ, 11 (e14715): 1–35, and suggested to be paraphyletic with respect to Pristimantis nelsongalloi
