Leptopelis occidentalis Schiøtz, 1967, Spolia Zool. Mus. Haun., 25: 41. Holotype: ZMUC R075598, by original designation. Type locality: "near Tai, Côte d'Ivoire [= Ivory Coast]".

Rainforests of southern Ghana to eastern Liberia and southern Ivory Coast, Nigerian records are controversial. 


Possibly conspecific with Leptopelis boulengeri according to Schiøtz, 1967, Spolia Zool. Mus. Haun., 25: 46. Rödel and Branch, 2002, Salamandra, 38: 258, reported the species for Ivory Coast.
