Comment

See comments under Leptopelis concolor. Removed from the synonymy of Hylambates maculatus by Ahl, 1931, Das Tierreich, 55: 217, where it had been placed by Barbour and Loveridge, 1928, Mem. Mus. Comp. Zool., 50: 238–239. Schiøtz and Van Daele, 2003, Alytes, 20: 146, suggested that Leptopelis concolor is conspecific with this taxon. IUCN, Conservation International, and NatureServe, 2004, Global Amph. Assessment, reported a much smaller distribution, restricted to Tanzania but did not comment on the distribution as mapped by Channing, 2001, Amph. Cent. S. Afr.: 197–198 (who provided an account). Du Preez and Carruthers, 2009, Compl. Guide Frogs S. Afr.: 92–93, also provided a brief account for southern Africa. Channing and Howell, 2006, Amph. E. Afr.: 195–196, provided an account for East Africa. Pickersgill, 2007, Frog Search: 505–507, provided an account. Mercurio, 2011, Amph. Malawi: 94–95, provided an account for Malawi. Schiøtz, 1999, Treefrogs Afr.: 296–297, provided brief accounts as Leptopelis argenteus and Leptopelis broadleyiHarper, Measey, Patrick, Menegon, and Vonesh, 2010, Field Guide Amph. E. Arc Mts. Tanzania and Kenya: 62–63, provided a brief account for the Eastern Arc Mountains of Tanzania. Channing and Rödel, 2019, Field Guide Frogs & Other Amph.
