Comment

Cei, 1962, Batr. Chile: 77-78 (as Eupsophus coppingeri) provided an account (but see Formas, Nuñez, and Cuevas, 2008, Rev. Chilena Hist. Nat., 81: 3-20). See comments under Alsodes australis for discussion of confusion with this species. Removed from the synonymy of Alsodes monticola by Formas, Nuñez, and Cuevas, 2008, Rev. Chilena Hist. Nat., 81: 3-20, where it had been placed by Lynch, 1968, Herpetologica, 24: 255-257; they also noted the type locality and suggested that specimens other than the holotype were referrable to other species. See comments under Alsodes australis for relevant taxonomic discussion. Blotto, Nuñez, Basso, Úbeda, Wheeler, and Faivovich, 2013, Cladistics, 29: Appendix S3, pp. 2-3, discussed the range and taxonomic problems with Alsodes australis
