Chthonerpeton viviparum Parker and Wettstein, 1929, Ann. Mag. Nat. Hist., Ser. 10, 4: 594. Holotype: BMNH 1947.2.13.84 (formerly 1907.8.28.1) according to Taylor, 1968, Caecilians of the World: 311. Type locality: "Santa Catharina, Brazil".

Known only from the vicinity of Joinville in eastern Santa Catarina, Brazil.
