Epicrionops marmoratus Taylor, 1968, Caecilians of the World: 205. Holotype: BMNH 1956.1.15.87, by original designation. Type locality: "Santo Domingo de los Colorados, west Ecuador", at an elevation of 670 m according to Taylor and Peters, 1974, Univ. Kansas Sci. Bull., 50: 336.

Distribution

Known only from northwestern Ecuador (provinces of Santo Domingo de los Tsáchilas and Pichincha, as well as adjacent southwestern Colombia (Reserva Río Ñambí’, Barbacoas, Nariño, Colombia),  670 to 1140 m elevation.

Comment

Taylor and Peters, 1974, Univ. Kansas Sci. Bull., 50: 336, reported an additional specimen from near Mindo on the western Andean slopes of Ecuador at about 1400 m elevation. Fernández-Roldán, Lynch, and Medina-Rangel, 2022, Herpetol. Bull., London, 161: 34–36, reported the species from southwestern Colombia and discussed the range.
