Caecilia tenuissima Taylor, 1973, Univ. Kansas Sci. Bull., 50: 219. Holotype: USNM 12353, by original designation. Type locality: "Guayaquil, [Guayas,] Ecuador".

Lynch, 2000 "1999", Rev. Acad. Colomb. Cienc. Exact. Fis. Nat., 23: 329, reported the Colombian record, which subsequently (Fernández-Roldán and Lynch, 2023, Zootaxa, 5270: 194–206) was named as a separate species, Caecilia wilkinsoni, and who discussed the status, comparative morphology, and relationships of this species.
