Tylototriton liuyangensis Yang, Jiang, Shen, and Fei, 2014, Asian Herpetol. Res., 5: 4. Holotype: HNUL 11053108, by original designation. Type locality: "Chuandiwo (28°25' N, 114°06' E, at an elevation of 1386 m) in Hunan Liuyang Daweishan Provincial Nature Reserve", Hunan, China.

Distribution

Known only from two localities in the Hunan Liuyang Daweishan Provincial Nature Reserve, Hunan, China, ca. 1400 m elevation.

Comment

Most closely related to Tylototriton wenxianensis, Tylototriton broadoridgus, and Tylototriton dabienicus according to the original publication. Shen, 2014, Fauna Hunan, Amph.: 56–60, provided an account with illustrations and a map, as Yaotriton liuyangensis, focused on Hunan. Bernardes, Le, Nguyen, Pham, Pham, Nguyen, Rödder, Bonkowski, and Ziegler, 2020, ZooKeys, 935: 121–164, provided a range map. In the Tylototriton (Yaotriton) wenxianensis species group of Poyarkov, Nguyen, and Arkhipov, 2021, Taprobanica, 10: 4–22, who discussed phylogenetics. In the Tylototriton asperrimus group of Lyu, Wang, Zeng, Zhou, Qi, Wan, Li, and Wang, 2021, Vert. Zool., Senckenberg, 71: 697–710, who discussed phylogenetics. Raffaëlli, 2022, Salamanders & Newts of the World: 296–297, provided an account, summarizing systematics, life history, population status, and distribution (including a polygon map).
