Distribution

Western, central, and easter El Salvador, 5 to 1275 m elevation; arguably to southwestern Honduras. See comment.

Removed from the synonym of Oedipina taylori by Brodie, Acevedo, and Campbell, 2012, J. Herpetol., 46: 236.  where it had been placed by Brame, 1960, Bull. S. California Acad. Sci., 59: 153-162. Raffaëlli, 2013, Urodeles du Monde, 2nd ed.: 384, provided a brief account, photograph, and range map. Raffaëlli, 2022, Salamanders & Newts of the World: 873, provided an account summarizing systematics (including misidentifications in the literature, including doubting a record from Honduras), life history, population status, and distribution (including a polygon map).
