Oedipina (Oedopinola) petiola McCranie and Townsend, 2011, Zootaxa, 2990: 62. Holotype: USNM 343462, by original designation. Type locality: "Cerro Búfalo, 15° 39′ N, 86°48′ W, Parque Nacional Pico Bonito, Cordillera Nombre de Dios, 1580 m elev., Atlántida, Honduras"

Distribution

Known only from within the south slope of Cerro Búfalo, Parque Nacional Pico Bonito, Atlántida, Honduras, at elevations ca. 1580 m.

Comment

The sister taxon of, and previously confused with, Oedipina gephyra according to the original publication. Raffaëlli, 2013, Urodeles du Monde, 2nd ed.: 374, provided a brief account, photograph, and range map.  Raffaëlli, 2022, Salamanders & Newts of the World: 851, provided an account summarizing systematics, life history, population status, and distribution (including a polygon map).
