Oedipina (Oeditriton) kasios McCranie, Vieites, and Wake, 2008, Zootaxa, 1930: 11. Holotype: MVZ 232825, by original designation. Type locality: "near Quebrada Pinol, 15°07′N, 86°44′W, Parque Nacional La Muralla, 1190 m a.s.l., Dept. Olancho, Honduras".

Distribution

Known from the the Parque Nacional La Muralla in northwestern Olancho, Honduras, in cloud forest at 950–1750 m elevation, and from 1920 m elevation in the Sierra de Agalta in central Olancho, about 80 km to the southeast of the type locality, and in the Parque Nacional Montaña de Yoro in northern Departamento Francisco Morazán, Honduras.

Comment

The sister taxon of Oedipina quadra according to the original publication. McCranie, Gutsche, Köhler, and Valdés-Orellana, 2011, Salamandra, 47: 169–172, provided a range extension to the Sierra de Agalta in central Olancho, Honduras. Townsend, Luque-Montes, and Wilson, 2011, Salamandra, 47: 50–54, provided a range extension to Parque Nacional Montaña de Yoro and discussed the range. Köhler, 2011, Amph. Cent. Am.: 82–90, compared this species with others from Central America and provided a map and photograph. Raffaëlli, 2013, Urodeles du Monde, 2nd ed.: 377, provided a brief account, photograph, and range map. Raffaëlli, 2022, Salamanders & Newts of the World: 861–862, provided an account summarizing systematics, life history, population status, and distribution (including a polygon map).
