Type locality: "Finca Santa Elena, 5.2 km W of Health Center at Agua Escondida, Chimaltenango, Guatemala, 2500 m, (14.791487° N, 91.051613° W)".

Comment

Similar to Bolitoglossa meliana and likely assignable to either the Bolitoglossa morio group or Bolitoglossa franklini group, according to the original publication. Köhler, 2011, Amph. Cent. Am.: 40–69, compared this species with others from Central America and provided a map and photograph. Raffaëlli, 2013, Urodeles du Monde, 2nd ed.: 348–349, provided a brief account, photograph, and range map. Raffaëlli, 2022, Salamanders & Newts of the World: 763, provided an account summarizing systematics, life history, population status, and distribution (including a polygon map).
