Bolitoglossa guaneae Acosta-Galvis and Gutiérrez-Lamus, 2012, Pap. Avulsos Zool., São Paulo, 52: 202. Holotype: ICNMHN 54440, by original designation. Type locality: "Colombia, Department de Santander, Municipality of Encino, Cartagena stream, enlargement area of Flora and Fauna Sanctuary Guanentá, Alto Río Fonce, vereda La Chapa, Department of Santander, west flank from Cordillera Oriental, Colombia, elevation 1836 m. 06° 06′ 58.2″ N and 73° 07′ 34.4″ W."

Central region of the western slope of the Cordillera Oriental in the departments of Santander and Boyacá, Colombia, 1700 to 2400 m elevation.

Comment

Most closely related to Bolitoglossa pandi and Bolitoglossa phalarosoma according to the orginal publication. Raffaëlli, 2013, Urodeles du Monde, 2nd ed.: 335, provided a brief account, photograph, and range map. Raffaëlli, 2022, Salamanders & Newts of the World: 709–710, provided an account summarizing systematics , life history, population status, and distribution (including a polygon map).
