Bolitoglossa (Eladinea) copia Wake, Hanken, and Ibáñez D., 2005, Copeia, 2005: 223. Holotype: MVUP 1766, by original designation. Type locality: "Panamá, Provincia de Coclé, Parque Nacional General de División Omar Torrijos Herrera, from near the summit of Cerro Peña Blanca, approximate UTM coordinates 0541522 0957221, 1315 m elevation".

Distribution

Known only from the type locality (near the summit of Cerro Peña Blanca) in the Cordillera Central of central Panama, near the continental divide, elevation 1315 m.

In the Bolitoglossa (Eladinea) schizodactyla group according to the original publication. Köhler, 2011, Amph. Cent. Am.: 40–69, compared this species with others from Central America and provided a map and photograph. Raffaëlli, 2013, Urodeles du Monde, 2nd ed.: 327, provided a brief account, photograph, and range map. Raffaëlli, 2022, Salamanders & Newts of the World: 697, provided an account summarizing systematics, life history, population status, and distribution (including a polygon map).
