Distribution

Southeastern Henan, southwestern Hubei, and western Anhui, China.

Comment

Xiong, Qin, Zeng, Zhao, and Qing, 2007, J. Herpetol., 41: 664-671, discussed the phylogenetic placement of this taxon. Pyron and Wiens, 2011, Mol. Phylogenet. Evol., 61: 543-583, suggested that Pachyhynobius is the sister taxon of Salamandrella.
