Distribution

Central Highlands of Vietnam (Kon Tum, Gia Lai, and Lam Dong provinces) and the Annamite Mountains of adjacent Laos (Champasak Province) at elevations of approximately 600–1500 m; expected in adjacent eastern Cambodia.

Comment

Most similar to Rhacophorus appendiculatus and Rhacophorus verrucosus according to the original publication. Stuart, 1999, in Duckworth et al. (eds.), Wildlife in Lao PDR: 49, reported the species in Laos. Nguyen, Ho, and Nguyen, 2005, Checklist Amph. Rept. Vietnam: 39, provided specific localities for Vietnam. Orlov, Nguyen, and Ho, 2008, Russ. J. Herpetol., 15: 67-84, provided a photograph (as Rhacophorus baliogaster) and a key to differentiate this species from others in Vietnam. See photograph, map, description of geographic range and habitat, and conservation status (as Rhacophorus baliogaster) in Stuart, Hoffmann, Chanson, Cox, Berridge, Ramani, and Young, 2008, Threatened Amph. World: 539. Teynié, Nguyen, Lorvelec, Piquet, Lottier, and David, 2014, Bull. Soc. Herpetol. France, 151: 30, provided a record from Champasak Province, Laos, and discussed the range. Kropachev, Vassilieva, Orlov, Ryabaltovsky, and Nguyen, 2021, Zootaxa, 5039: 144–148, disputed the identity of the tadpoles described in the original description, and provided a description of confirmed Kurixalus baliogaster.
