In the Odorrana (Odorrana) andersonii group of Fei, Ye, Huang, Jiang, and Xie, 2005, in Fei et al. (eds.), Illust. Key Chinese Amph.: 126. Bain and Stuart, 2006, Hamadryad, 30: 151–156. Bain and Stuart, 2006, Hamadryad, 30: 151–156, discussed the range and provided a record for Laos as well as a record from near Sa Pa, Lao Cai Province, Vietnam. See map, description of geographic range and habitat, and conservation status (as Rana junlianensis) in Stuart, Hoffmann, Chanson, Cox, Berridge, Ramani, and Young, 2008, Threatened Amph. World: 505. Fei, Hu, Ye, and Huang, 2009, Fauna Sinica, Amph. 3: 1256–1261, provided an account, figures, and map for China, placed it in their Odorrana andersonii group. Fei, Ye, and Jiang, 2010, Colored Atlas of Chinese Amph.: 335, provided a brief account including figures of specimens. Fei, Ye, and Jiang, 2012, Colored Atlas Chinese Amph. Distr.: 379, provided an account, photographs, and a range map. Ziegler, Tran, Nguyen, Perl, Wirk, Kulisch, Lehmann, Rauhaus, Nguyen, Le, and Vu, 2014, Herpetol. Notes, 7: 185–201, provided a record (now transferred to Odorrana sp.) for Ha Giang Province, Vietnam, and briefly discussed the range. Poyarkov, Nguyen, Popov, Geissler, Pawangkhanant, Neang, Suwannapoom, and Orlov, 2021, Russ. J. Herpetol., 28 (3A): 50, implied that this name may represent a species complex. Yuan, Wu, Wen, Xu, Gao, Dahn, Liu, Jin, Yu, Xiao, and Che, 2023, Curr. Zool., Chengdu, 69: 82–90, discussed nuDNA/mtDNA discordance and species delimitation in this complex and noted that previous records from northern Laos, and northwestern border area of Vietnam are referrable to an unnamed species of the Odorrana grahami complex (see Odorrana grahami record).
