Known only from the region of Toba Lake in northern Sumatra, ca. 400 m altitude, Indonesia.

Comment

Stuart, 2008, Mol. Phylogenet. Evol., 46: 59, considered this species of unknown placement and considered it to not be demonstrably within Huia prior to phylogenetic analysis. Idrus, Arroyyan, Bahri, and Hamidy, 2021, J. Biodjati, 6: 1–10, reported on comparative morphometrics.
