Distribution

Western Cameroon in the Rumpi Hills to the southern slopes of the Bamileke Plateau, and Nkongsamba, and from the Oban Hillis in eastern Nigeria at intermediate elevations. See comment.

In the Rana (Amnirana) albolabris group of Dubois, 1992, Bull. Mens. Soc. Linn. Lyon, 61: 324. See photograph, map, description of geographic range and habitat, and conservation status (as Amnirana asperrima) in Stuart, Hoffmann, Chanson, Cox, Berridge, Ramani, and Young, 2008, Threatened Amph. World: 475. Channing, Rödel, and Channing, 2012, Tadpoles of Africa: 362–363, provided information on comparative larval morphology. Jongsma, Barej, Barratt, Burger, Conradie, Ernst, Greenbaum, Hirschfeld, Leaché, Penner, Portik, Zassi-Boulou, Rödel, and Blackburn, 2018, Mol. Phylogenet. Evol., 120: 275, did not provide Nigeria as part of the range, although close in west-central Cameroon. Channing and Rödel, 2019, Field Guide Frogs & Other Amph. Afr.: 392–393, provided a brief account, photograph, and range map.
