Ptychadena perplicata Laurent, 1964, Publ. Cult. Companhia Diamantes Angola, 67: 136. Holotype: MD 5513, by original designation. Presumably the holotype is the largest of the three specimens under this number according to Ceríaco, Marques, André, Afonso, Blackburn, and Bauer, 2020, Bull. Mus. Comp. Zool., 162: 411. Type locality: "Alto Chicapa, humidiherbosa des sources du Cuílo, Lunda", Angola.
