Comment

Most similar to Ptychadena schillukorum according to the original publication, where comparative morphology and the advertisement call were detailed. See accounts by Channing, 2001, Amph. Cent. S. Afr.: 328, and Du Preez and Carruthers, 2009, Compl. Guide Frogs S. Afr.: 310-311. Ceríaco, Bauer, Heinicke, and Blackburn, 2016, Afr. Herp News, 63: 19–20, provided a record from Omaramba Omatako, 3 km N of Vicota (18° 12’ S; 20° 15’ E) in the Rundu District of the Kavango-East Region, Namibia. Baptista, Conradie, Vaz Pinto, and Branch, 2019, In Huntley, Russo, Lages, and Ferrand (eds.), Biodiversity in Angola: 257, noted specimens from southwestern Zambia, suggesting the species' likely range into southeastern Angola. See Bittencourt-Silva, 2019, Amph. Rept. Conserv., 13 (2: e181): 11, for comment on population in western Zambia. Channing and Rödel, 2019, Field Guide Frogs & Other Amph. Afr.: 336–337, provided a brief account, photograph, and range map.
