Phrynobatrachus gastoni Barbour and Loveridge, 1928, Proc. New England Zool. Club, 10: 88. Holotype: MCZ 13946, by original designation. Type locality: "Buta, Bas-Uelé Province, Belgian Congo" (= Dem. Rep. Congo).
