Distribution

Known only from the central portion of the Serra do Mar of the state of São Paulo, including the municipalities of Itanhaém, Mongaguá, and Santos, all in the state of São Paulo, Brazil.

Previous confused with Proceratophrys melanopogon according to the original publication. Malagoli, Mângia, and Haddad, 2016, S. Am. J. Herpetol., 11: 18–24, reported on advertisement call, distribution, and natural history.
