Proceratophrys itamari Mângia, Santana, Cruz, and Feio, 2014, Bol. Mus. Nac., Rio de Janeiro, N.S., Zool., 531: 24. Holotype: MNRJ 82580, by original designation. Type locality: "Parque Estadual de Campos do Jordão (22°41’S, 45°27’W, SAD69 datum, 1470m a.s.l.), Municipality of Campos do Jordão, State of São Paulo, Brazil".

Distribution

Endemic to the Serra da Mantiqueira mountain range in the states of São Paulo (Municipalities of Campos do Jordão, Eugênio Lefevre, Pinamonhangaba, Santo Antônio do Pinhal, and São José dos Campos) and Minas Gerais (Municipality of Passa Quatro), Brazil.

Previously confused with Proceratophrys melanopogon according to the original publication. Muscat, Stuginski, Nunes, Martins, Augusto-Alves, Vittorazzi, Toledo, and Moroti, 2020, Herpetol. Notes, 13: 573–577, discussed habitat, provided new records, and mapped the species.
