Neobatrachus kunapalari Mahony and Roberts, 1986, Rec. W. Aust. Mus., 13: 163. Holotype: WAM 93485, by original designation. Type locality: "8.9 km S of Merredin, WA (31° 22′ S, 118° 15′ E)", Western Australia, Australia.

Southwestern half of Western Australia south of Menzies and Wubin to the edge of the Nullarbor Plain.
