Chandramouli and Prasad, 2018, Tropical Nat. Hist., Thailand, 18: 40–53, recognized this as a distinct species rather than a subspecies of Kaloula baleata. Harikrishnan and Vasudevan, 2018, Alytes, 36: 247–248, commented on the distribution and natural history in the Andaman Islands, India.
